Keepsake Suitcase Review | Meminio

As parents, we all want to keep a few (or many) keepsakes from our children’s childhood to pass on to them. It could be their favourite toy, their hand/foot prints, a lock of hair, or their first outfit they wore home from the hospital. But where to put it all? I found many products online were too specific about what to keep, or they weren’t really large enough to hold toys or artwork over the years. Meminio really checks off those boxes as well as being really beautiful to look at. I purchased two keepsake suitcases from UK company Meminio. It’s a really unique product so I’m here to share my thoughts about it.

Workmanship

The suitcases are made of bonded leather and I believe the hardware is gold matted brass. It is of exceptional quality with no damage whatsoever. It is lined with a dotted fabric which looks classic and not over-the-top. It comes with a key to lock the suitcase if you wish.

It has a top tray and a bottom tray. The top tray is divided into three compartments, whereas the bottom tray is one big compartment. The lid of the suitcase features small pockets to add smaller trinkets.

The luggage tag can be customised with gold foil lettering. It is embossed on the leather tags so will not rub off.

Colours

I purchased the Lavendar and Sage colours, however they also come in Navy blue, Cherry Red, Blush pink, Ivory and Grey. I do wish they had slightly more variety of colours like a neutral beige/cream, or a light blue.

Price

The large suitcase is currently £205.00. It is an expensive product however the quality does reflect the price tag. Given that you will be keeping this case for a lifetime or more, the price is justified.

Shipping

Shipping costs were high but expected as it was shipped to me in Switzerland. I also had to pay customs/tax on top which is not the fault of the company. The items were well packaged and protected and was received very quickly.

What do I put in it?

Here is a list of ideas you can put in your case for children:

  • Ultrasound photos

  • Birth announcement card

  • Hospital wristband

  • Cards received from friends and family

  • Special outfits/shoes

  • lock of hair

  • Baby book

  • Artwork

  • School certificates

  • Letters or poems to your child

  • Photos of them growing up

  • Mementos that hold stories

Other Products

Meminio do sell other products such as memory folders, memory books (journals, record books), jewellery boxes and vanity cases. I purchased two memory folders thinking it would fit in the bottom of the suitcase however it doesn’t, which is a shame. The memory folders are very handy though. They are A3 size and have multiple pockets of page protectors to keep a variety of keepsakes/artwork/certificates and more. The books have a front window that can be customised with the childs name. Right now, the memory folders only come in three colours - navy, blush pink and grey. It would have been nice if they had the same variety of colours as the suitcases so you could purchase one of each as a matching set.

Conclusion

I would highly recommend this product. It would make a beautiful baby shower gift to house all of the keepsakes from childhood. Although expensive, the quality is of a really high standard, so if it is affordable for you, it’s certainly worth investing in.
